It’s easy to stay confined in one or two continents when you look over popular English literature. While many books we read speak about other places, they come with a European or United States perspective on life. Recently I picked up “Hausauland Tales from the Nigerian Marketplace.” While by some accounts a children’s book, I’ve enjoyed the straightforward tone of the book so far. How about you? What international reading have you done? I’d love to discover more South American, African, Asian and Pacific works in English, translated or otherwise.

While you’re on Nigeria, you might want to read “THings Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe. It’s one of the more popular west African reads and it helps a Christian get great perspective on how a lot of the world perceives missionaries and how we as Christians have fallen short of being Christ like in being so avid about being understood rather than seeking to understand.

Thanks for the recommendation. I’ll put that on the list for sure.
