Two things.

Never ceasing - as in I’ve yet to manage to finish this book and it doesn’t seem many others in the bookclub have either. It’s been well over a year since we agreed to dive into this book!

Never ceasing - as in what Willard speaks of on page 86 -87

How should we take care of ourselves when we are never to cease?

Dwight Moody - One day soon you will hear that I am dead. Do not believe it. I will then be alive as never before

Jesus shows his apprentices how to live in the light of the fact that they will never stop living.

Sometimes I find heaven/eternity so distant and intangible that I tend to ignore it all together. Willard here suggests that we must be mindful of this reality as it permeates everything that we might do today, in this life.

A few things this makes me think of.

- The memories that I create in this life that I may take with me for all eternity.

- An idea I’ve always held to that Greg Boyd introduced me to in Letters to a Skeptic was how we are all ‘eternalizing’ our character in the choices that we make.

- A fantastic line from the movie gladiator - “what we do in this life, echoes into eternity”
